Protect the Border How to Survive the Night
Day cash is a loan. The raid is the payment.
The storefront does not hide the second half of the job: survive what comes after dark and put down whatever they send to break the line. This is the how-to-protect and how-to-beat page. If you still miss faces in daylight, finish Getting Started first. A messy booth becomes a messy defense.
The night is a different game
Daytime is a queue. Nighttime is a hold. You stop optimizing for cars per minute and start optimizing for angles, magazines, and who is allowed to chase. Endless Mode, covered in its own guide, makes each later night worse. The habits below are the same habits, just less forgiving.
Ninety seconds before sunset
- Close the shop. A half-bought rifle helps nobody.
- Fill ammo. Infinite Ammo is a pass, not a plan. See gamepass ranks if you already wipe on empty mags.
- Assign roles out loud.
- Drag leftover suspects to the cell so they are not standing in your lane.
- Pick cover that still sees the approach road.
The inspection checklist has a sunset block so a party of four does not discover the raid while two people are still in a trunk.
Four-officer night roles
- Booth — holds the immediate lane, shotgun or SMG range
- Road — first contact, calls numbers
- Overwatch — SVD, 50 CAL, or Ghillie if someone bought the class
- Floater — reloads, revives, covers a flank
Solo or duo? Collapse to booth plus road. Do not all stand in the same doorway. One grenade, one boss path, and the line is empty.
How to beat a rush
Let the road officer call before everyone dumps. Burst, then check the next angle. Heavy belts (M249, PKM, RPK, Minigun) exist to hold a lane, not to chase a single runner into the dark. If you own Pyromaniac, use the flamethrower on clumped approaches, not on a sniper you cannot see.
Boss-sized enemies are why the description says every night gets worse. Focus fire. Do not split four rifles onto four different targets if one monster is walking through the barrier. The weapons tier list ranks what actually breaks armor. The classes tier list ranks who can stand in front of it. Juggernaut’s 250 HP is the obvious frontliner and is pass-only — read premium classes before you assume a teammate can earn it with gold.
Ammo and greed
Night wipes that look like “we need better guns” are often “we sprayed the first wave.” Save special weapons (Ray Gun, RPG, 50 CAL) for the thing that does not fall. FAMAS, TAR 21, and G36 are fine booth rifles if you aim. Buying every pass will not fix a crew that reloads at the same time.
After the raid
If you live, do not instantly open the shop. Count who is down. Reload. Then, if Endless continues, reset the day roles: window, trunk, road. The officers who clutched overwatch still need to stare at faces again. That mental switch is the hidden skill of this BETA.
If you wipe, write one sentence in party chat: where the first enemy came from. That sentence is worth more than a rage buy. Then open loadouts and change one thing, not six.
What not to do
- Do not chase loot into the dark while the booth is empty
- Do not accept a late bribe animation as the raid starts
- Do not test a new script during a hold — see script safety
- Do not blame the lack of codes for a positioning wipe
Hold the line means the booth is still there in the morning. When your party can name roles before the sky changes, you are ready for Endless Mode. That page is the same night, stretched until the boss is the point of the shift.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers officers ask after every shift.
When should we stop inspecting cars?
About ninety seconds before sunset. Finish the current car, then take positions.
What is the best night class?
Juggernaut for the front, Ghillie or a marksman for overwatch. See the classes tier list for the full rank.
Can two officers hold a night?
Yes, but assign booth and road. Standing together in one door is how both of you drop.
Should I buy Infinite Ammo after one wipe?
Not first. Fix positions and reload discipline, then look at the gamepass value page.
