Choose a Class in Protect the Border

Pick the hole in the night, not the loudest store card.

Choose a Class

The locker is the second decision after the inspection loop. Protect the Border sells earnable kits for cash or gold and premium kits for Robux. Juggernaut is the only class the store text locks behind a pass. This page is the how-to for the first honest pick. Full rosters live on earnable classes and premium classes. Ranks live on the classes tier list.

Do not buy a class on spawn. Finish one day-and-night cycle with the default kit so you know whether you die at the window, on the road, or in an empty mag. Getting Started is that cycle.

Ask the wipe question first

Write one sentence: “We wiped because ___.” Then pick.

  • Forged faces — you do not need a new class. You need how to check IDs.
  • Missed cargo — same. Open how to search trunks.
  • Nobody on the road — overwatch kit. Ghillie Sniper (350) if you will spend; an earnable marksman plus SVD (149) if you will not.
  • The lane folded — a heavy body. Juggernaut (349, 250 HP, M249 + Desert Eagle, pass-only) or the heaviest earnable plus PKM (219) or M249 (179).
  • Empty mags — Infinite Ammo (199) or reload discipline, not a fashion class. See gamepass value.
  • Slow locker — 2X Cash (199) or VIP (399). Buy one multiplier, not both, until your HUD proves a stack.

If you cannot finish the sentence, stay on the default kit. Browsing is how Ray Gun (399) lands in a locker that still fails faces.

Earnable first, premium later

Cash and gold come from finished work. How to earn cash is the grind page. Spend those currencies on a kit you will equip tomorrow, not on a name you saw in another border game.

Premium kits currently on the live store (August 2026):

  • Juggernaut (349) — 250 HP, M249 + Desert Eagle, pass-only
  • SAS Operator (350) — 170 HP, HK416 + P226, the all-rounder
  • Hazmat Soldier (350) — 165 HP, FAMAS + Colt 1911
  • Frog Man (350) — 160 HP, suppressed AS VAL + Ruger SR9
  • Ghillie Sniper (350) — SVD + Desert Eagle overwatch, created 14 August 2026
  • Pyromaniac (350) — flamethrower class, created 14 August 2026, a clump tool
  • Special Forces + Spetsnaz bundle (499) — two classes; do the math against 350 + 350

Ghillie already includes an SVD. Buying both is usually a waste. Hazmat already includes a FAMAS. Frog Man already includes an AS VAL. Read the pass text: extras sit on top of a loadout. Classes are the loadout.

A sane first pick by party size

  • Solo — SAS if you will spend, because you will booth and road in the same hour. Otherwise the most flexible earnable rifle.
  • Duo — one processor kit, one reach kit. Do not buy two Pyromaniacs.
  • Trio or four — fill the missing night role. The fourth identical SAS does not watch a ridge.

What to ignore in the shop

  • X-Ray Scanner — offsale. Do not hunt resellers.
  • A second economy pass before you have played a clean night
  • Any class advertised in a YouTube comment for a different border title
  • Store art that looks newer. Pyromaniac is newer than SAS and still a worse overwatch.

The BETA changelog is a calendar. The mid-August store note is the latest stamp. Neither is a shopping order.

When you can name the HP of the kit you want and the wipe it is supposed to prevent, close the store. Loadouts is the next page so the uniform has a daytime job as well as a silhouette at dusk.

Shift FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers officers ask after every shift.

Which class should a new officer buy first?

None on the first shift. Play a day and night, then buy the kit that matches the wipe reason.

Is Juggernaut earnable with gold?

No. The store text says the pass is the only way in.

Should I buy Ghillie and SVD?

Ghillie already includes an SVD. Buy the class first if overwatch is your job.

Is Pyromaniac a good first class?

Only if your wipe is clumps at the bumper. It is a poor overwatch and a poor first solo kit.

Do VIP and 2X Cash replace a class?

No. They are multipliers. They do not inspect IDs or hold a lane.
